What We Do
Since our inception in 2003, our “track record” of work in Haiti has included the following:
- Providing handcraft supplies to Pwoje Fanm that are difficult to obtain in Haiti
- Teaching new handcraft skills on “training” mission trips:
- Fabric painting
- Appliqué
- Crazy quilting
- Counted cross stitch
- Jewelry-making
- Wire work
- Making recycled paper beads
- Building a 2-story classroom for Pwoje Fanm (first floor completed 2008)
- Purchased a gas oven for Pwoje Fanm’s cooking class
- Student scholarship sponsorship
- Hiring women at fair wages as manufacturers for our products
- Encouraging/giving guidance on new product development
- We have raised over $55,000 in sales and donations (through end of 2008)
As followers of Christ, we have a duty and a desire to respect the dignity of our fellow man and to be good stewards of the earth. Therefore, we adhere to fair trade practices in our business relationship with Pwoje Fanm, and we will strive to include “green” engineering wherever possible in the construction of the Trade School.
